Major Events for 2010

Though every event is major there are some that we would like to bring special attention to. Currnetly there are 3 such events on the horizon. A city-wide revival in Legaspi City, Philippines (March

Legaspi City, Philippines (March 28 - April 8, 2010)

Mayan Volcano, Legaspi City, PhilippinesJust below the mighty Mayon Volcano lives the population of Legaspi City, Philippines. With a population of 175,000 people, Legaspi City is pummled by the daily threats of a massive explosion from the mouth of this looming giant. To date, 40,000 people have been evacuated. The remainder stay despite the threat.

In this environment, Pastor Robert Matamis has invited Agora Evangelism Ministries to participate in a city-wide evangelism effort during Holy Week (the week before Easter). These two facts, the active volcano and Holy Week, combine for an awesome opportunity to reach the population with the gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Pastor Robert has reserved a large venue in the city for the 4 day revival. We will have pastor's meetings and soul winning training in the mornings. The afternoons will be filled with one-on-one soul winning throughout the city. The evenings will be filled with gospel singing and preaching.

Agora Evangelism Ministries is taking 4 evangelists on this trip: Dr Bob Dudley, Pastor Don Frazier, Steve Bassler and David Bassler. After the first week Steve and Dave will return to the states to be replaced by Dr Cathy Dudley. Pastor Frazier and the Dudley's will spend Easter Sunday with Pastor Casidsid in Mandaluyong (near Manila). Then the 3 of us will return to Legaspi City to participate in a Bible Conference.

Memorial Day - Washington, DC (May 31, 2010)

There is an incredible opportunity to witness to several thousand people (Americans and tourists from all over the worLocation of AEM on Memorial Day, 2010ld) on the National Mall in Washington, DC on Memorial Day (May 31, 2010). Agora Evangelism Ministries (AEM) and Sword of the Lord Publishers (SotL) would like to partner with your church to reach the multitudes. AEM and SotL will have a stage set up right at the Washington Monument (see picture, below – the large grass area within the yellow oval) for a patriotic and gospel music concert and gospel presentations (10-15 minute preaching). AEM and SotL will have evangelism tents set up for giving the gospel and a headquarters tent for sending people out all over the mall to talk with the lost.

On one side of the Washington Monument are the memorials – World War II, Korean War, Vietnam Veterans. Marble and granite symbols of America’s heroes. Every year thousands of patriotic Americans descend on the National Mall in DC. They come from all over the country (and some from around the world) to pay their respects to fallen soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen. Some even come Closeup of Memorial Day Locationto think of loved ones that gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect our way of life.

On the other side of the Washington Monument is the start of the Smithsonian’s month and a half long Folklife Festival. The goal of the Folklife Festival is so that “Tradition-bearers and the public can connect with and learn from one another and, in a respectful way, begin to understand cultural differences and similarities.” In other words, there will be thousands of people that need to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Between these two diverse groups of people stands the Washington Monument and Evangelism on the Mall. In the past two years we were located near the Air and Space Museum on the 4th of July and saw over 800 people come to Christ in one day each year. This year we will be placed right in the middle of ALL the holiday activity, centrally located for spreading the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ. We would be honored if your church would join us in this once-a-year opportunity!

Nairobi, Kenya (June 15 - 20, 2010)

God works in strange ways at times. Several weeks ago I recieved a phone call from a man in Nairobi, Kenya. His name, it turns out, Bishop Moses Naibei. He told me he was searching the web for an evangelist and the Agora Evangelism Ministries' Website moved him.

He called me immediately and invited us to Nairobi to minister with him in a city-wide revival. Through a lot of prayer and planning we have finally been able to commit to help them reach the city for Christ.
