God's Perfect Timing
George
Thursday night Bob and Charlie decided to visit people that have visited Granite Baptist Church recently. They picked up 4 cards of people that have been to the church sometime over the last month.
They stopped at the first house and no one was home. They went on to the second house and again no one was home. They went to the third house with the same results.
When they looked at the map to find the location of the fourth person they couldn’t find the address on the map. However, it just so happened that Bob had gotten a new cell phone over the last few weeks (a Blackberry) with internet connectivity. They looked up the address on the internet and in a few minutes were on their way to Freetown in Pasadena.
When they got to the apartment building they went into the right side entrance. They climbed to the top floor looking for Apartment 756 – according to the visitor’s card. The highest number on any apartment door was 754 – no 756. They walked all the way back down the stairs looking for, perhaps, another entrance.
With God’s perfect timing, as they came out of the apartment building’s entrance, another man was walking out into the night about 20 feet away at the next entrance. Bob and Charlie walked towards him as the man asked if he could help. Bob introduced them and asked if he (George) might know the lady and her apartment as he showed the man the visitor card. He said he was just visiting and ran inside to ask his girl friend. No help. The man came back out, said sorry and rushed to his car.
Bob, almost running to keep up with the man, asked if he could leave something with him. Bob pulled out a tract and showed the man the back telling him they were from Granite Baptist Church. The man turned the tract over to read the front and Bob asked him “The Question” - Are you 100 sure, if you died tonight, that you would go to heaven? George said, “No, but my grandma has been after me about that since I was a little boy.” Bob asked if he could take just a couple of minutes to show him what the Bible says about how he can know for sure that he would be in heaven if he should die.
About half way through the Gospel presentation, George related how he had a friend that was standing on the street the day before he was to graduate from college. While the two of them were standing there, a gun fight broke out down the street. One of the bullets hit and killed his friend. George said his friend was a better man than he and wondered how God could take someone in an instant like that. Bob told George that we never know when God will require our lives. George agreed and bowed his head to accept Christ as his Savior.
After Bob and Charlie shared some assurance verses with George, Bob had George fill out his name and the date on the tract. Bob asked George what he was going to do with the tract. He said he was going to show it to his grandma – he didn’t want her to worry about him anymore.
Ramona
After George got saved, Bob and Charlie decided that the address might have been written down wrong. So, instead of looking for “756’ they went back in and tried “750” instead. Sure enough, they asked to speak to Ramona and she was the one that answered the door. Bob told them they were from Granite Baptist Church and wanted to return the favor of her visit during the Christmas Cantata. She invited them into her home and, within 10 minutes, she bowed her head and accepted Christ as her savior.
