Pastor Don Frazier and I (Dr Bob Dudley) just returned (in June) from a
revival in Nairobi, Kenya. We were there for a week. Before I tell you all
the good news,
I want to spend a moment telling you about a demonic attack that happened.
Pastor Don and I stayed at the Presbyterian Guesthouse in Nairobi. This 5 story hotel was full of people on short term mission trips to Kenya from all over America. There was a group of dentists and people there to help fix up some old church buildings. Anyway, there were only two people in the hotel that came to Kenya to win souls to Christ and teach churches to do the same – Pastor Don and I. and there were only two people that got very, very sick – Pastor Don and I. At the time it didn’t dawn on me (I was too busy trying to work and not pass out) but, thinking back, it was obvious that this was a real attack. We both had very bad head and chest colds that came up full blast almost overnight.
Despite the health problems, God greatly blessed our efforts. While there, we saw over 100 people come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. 12 different churches committed to starting a Soul Winners’ Club. And 4 Christians led their first person to Christ.
There are 2 stories that stand out in my mind…
Pastor
Don witnessed to the man that cleaned our rooms. His name was Steve. Tuesday
Pastor Don led Steve to
Christ. Through many tears of joy, Steve asked Jesus to be his Savior. Steve
told me what happened and how he knew for sure he would spend eternity in
heaven. But, the story didn’t end there. Wednesday Steve made a point to see
us. He told us that he went home with the tract that Pastor Don had given
him. He sat his wife and daughter down at the table after dinner and read it
to them. He was anxious to make sure his family would be with him in heaven
some day. And he was anxious to share with us the knowledge that his family
was safe and secure.
Eric
was one of the young men at the host church were we held our Soul Winners’
Club Directors’ College. On Sunday Eric went out to watch Bob witness on the
street. On the way he expressed his skepticism that this would work in
Kenya. After he watched 2 men bow their heads and ask Jesus into their
hearts he said (with a smile on his face), “Well, maybe 10% chance of it
working here.”
The next day we were all together was Tuesday. Eric went out with Don. He saw several more people come to Christ. Now he said (smiling), “OK, maybe there is a 50/50 chance that it will work.”
On Wednesday he went out with Bob again and saw even more people get saved. With a grin from ear to ear he said, “OK, 100%, it works in Kenya.”
Now, here is the best part. At the Thursday night meeting Eric sought out Bob and Don to tell this story… Eric was at a local cyber café in the morning checking his email. He said that he met a lady there that he thought he recognized. He started up a conversation. After a bit he ran out of things to say. Then it dawned on him. He asked her, “What is your church background?” After she responded he gave his testimony. He then asked her if she was 100% sure, if she died, that she would go to heaven. She said, “No.” And another lady, listening in, chimed in that she wasn’t sure. Eric had the pleasure of leading both ladies to Christ that day. He was so excited when he told us about this encounter. A new soul winner is born.
