I Want a Church So I Can Find God

Let me share a testimony from last night - an awesome Divine appointment. Paul and I were out on visitation - we were given a card for a guy (Joe) that had visited the church. We were to return the favor and see if he had any questions and if he was saved. Well, he was saved and he liked the church so it was a quick visit. So we started walking around the neighborhood looking for anyone else that God wanted us to talk to. After a while I saw a couple of ladies standing on the sidewalk in front of their apartment. I approached them with a tract in hand and said, "Hi, we're from the Church of the Open Door and we are inviting people to church." Right away tears formed in the eyes of the older lady - the mom. (I've never had THAT reaction before.)

I found out her story later - she had been drug free for about 20 days and started wondering about God. She found her mother's Bible (she had gotten it from her mother about 15 years ago and never opened it). She decided the day before that she was going to find God. She started reading in Genesis. She read a chapter on Wednesday. Then, on Thursday (the day we walked up the sidewalk) she read another chapter to her teenaged daughter and, when they needed a break, they stepped out on the porch to stretch. They started talking about finding a church in search of God.

Wouldn't you know it, at the exact moment the words left her mouth two men approached her to invite her to church. Is God awesome or what? As I led her and her daughter to Christ the tears were flowing freely all around. We held hands as they prayed for God to save them. She then related her story. And the tears started to flow all over again.

It is very humbling to be the answer to someone's prayers and their search for our Savior. Because a mom tried to get her life in order and find God, God was faithful and sent her someone that could take her on the next step.

On the way home I was reminded of Hebrews 11:6 - "And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him." Marsha had faith that she could find God so God found her and now Marsha and Amanda are secure in their Savior forever.
